The city of Norwich has been voted as one of the United Kingdom's most popular shopping destinations, taking the ninth spot out of a list of ten areas.
Collated by VenueScore, a prominent retail specialist, the top ten included the best places to spend a few pounds across the entire nation.
The results could prove to be great news for local businesses, residents and letting agents. Norwich is already a popular place to live but this added incentive could encourage even more people to move to the area; boosting its economy.
A spokesperson for one of Norwich's biggest department stores, Jarrold, wasn't all that surprised by the results. Pete Mitchell told Eveningnews24.co.uk: "In Norwich, we have got very modern shopping malls and we have got a great range of independent shops and one-off stores you cannot find anywhere else.
"There is a great choice and it is all very accessible - we have one of the best park and ride services in the country. Being in the top 10 is a confirmation of the progress over the last five years or so in Norwich in terms of new stories coming in."
Residents of the city may well be proud to have their area listed alongside other big cities; according to Javelingroup.com, London, Birmingham and Southampton were all praised by VenueScore.
However as Norwich boasts many of Britain's big names on its high street (including House of Fraser and John Lewis), it was perhaps inevitable. In fact, even those who don't live in the area travel there to shop - according to local shop manager, Andy Barber; proving its enduring popularity.
